Debut Novelist Jena Wade

The novel is called “Shoes and Ties” and Loose Id is the publisher. This is Jena Wade’s first full-length effort. The sequel is “Lumbar and Law,” and if you like sassy and sweet love stories, Ashten and Jesse have just the story to tell you. 🙂

What was the first Romance novel that you read? Did you love it or hate it?

I don’t recall the name… but it was when I was in middle school – My sister had acquired a bunch of used Harlequin romances from a garage sale.
I picked up one of them and started reading.
I loved it at the time, but gawd, if I read it now I’d probably hate it!
The rest is history, as they say, since then I have read soooo many different romance novels, from so many different genres.

What was the first M/M Romance novel that you read?

Oh hell, I can’t remember that either  I know I bought it by accident. It was a short story, so once I finished I was like – I want more story! So then, I just started buying a ton of them. M/M is pretty much all I read now.

What’s your favorite book of all time?

The Princess Bride. I read that book like 50 times one year. I own six copies of the book and three copies of the movie, plus a digital copy of each. It’s my favorite book of all time and it all started cause I did a book report on it in Middle School. I remember that I went way above and beyond the requirements for the report and of course I got an A.

When did you first realize you wanted to write fiction?

I’ve always known that I would write a novel someday (who doesn’t, right?). English classes were always fun for me. Writing classes were always easy peasy. I just never had the time. Until I sat down and made the time.  I never would’ve guessed that it would be a M/M novel though.

Who was the first person to encourage your writing?

My crit group! Seriously, I wrote in the closet the entire time I put together my debut novel Shoes & Ties.
I didn’t tell my family that I was writing until my first short story, The Slide Home, was accepted. Since then they have been very supportive.
My hubs thinks it’s awesome. Whenever I have my laptop out he asks if I am writing porn again. And I usually am.
