Burning Sky #18:

The stranger needed attention, perhaps a doctor. “Do you live around here?”

“No, and nowhere near here, either.” He sighed, turning his head. “I don’t think I can stand on my own.”

I opened the passenger side door and got out of the coach. Simply grabbing his arm and hauling him up as he used the walking staff for leverage worked fine for us both, but once standing he began to shiver and shake, and I thought he might pass out. So I lifted him into my arms with a quiet oath—he was not light. He had not been sick for long, it appeared.

    I don’t know which way this will go…. my instincts say that this man brings trouble with him.
