Onward to another paragraph from one of my WIPs Last Dance: Watching Rocco, Joey is trying to get up the nerve to ask him to dance. But Joey sees the ghost of Donna Summer, which apparently heralds a seizure.

This is the last line from Last Dance #7:  As if she read my mind, and likely had, she said to the staring wedding guests, “Come on, give the guy a break.”

“I’m sorry,” Rocco said and started to rise.

Viola pushed him back down. “You stay. Be nice.”

He smiled up at her and spread out his hands. “I’m always nice. Get out of here and go be married.”

The EMTs took away with them paper plates of white cake topped with slivers of almonds, leaving Rocco and me alone. I loved sitting in the shadow of his shoulders.

you’ve certainly left me wondering what will happen next and if they’ll have their dance.

I was all about the cake, and then that last line. Wow! It says so much. I love it!
