Release Blitz: The Hunger Within by Lily Luchesi

Vampirism isn’t all sex, blood, and handcuffs. * She’s not all whips and orgasms.

What inspired me to write The Hunger Within

The Hunger Within really started with A Bloody Legacy, the 15k word novelette I released this past April with Hot Ink Press.

BDSM has always been interesting to me, not just because of the sexual aspect but the psychological one as well. It takes two entirely different types of people to be doms/dommes and subs, and different reasons for why each role appeals to them. However, I never thought about writing it at all, though I had penned some erotica short stories for anthologies.

My publisher said femdomme was becoming a trend in books and that there was a lack of it. Somehow, that night, the idea for A Bloody Legacy came to mind.

I am a vampire nerd. Ask anybody. Vampires dominate (pun intended) my work, and I was always intrigued by Dracula and Stoker’s portrayal that he basically had a small harem with his three brides, plus wanting Lucy and then Mina.

Right away my mind went not to Dracula himself, but to a daughter, the next in line to take over the House of Dracul. From there, I thought about Renfield, and how Dracula wasted an opportunity in killing him when he was such a faithful servant (and really was submissive when you read between the lines). So right away, a female Renfield popped into my head with all of the submissive nature but none of the mental illness.

I hadn’t planned on writing a full length novel for the two women, Victoria and Bec, but right away my readers came to me and said, “We need more!” Not want, but need. I am not a plotter, ideas have to come naturally to me.

It took maybe a week before the idea came, and I still have no freakin’ clue how it happened. But I’m glad it did.

As I wrote, I knew I wanted to delve deeper into the psychology of a new sub in a relationship with an experienced domme. We dommes can be cold and calculating due to our positions, often hiding our softer emotions to play our roles. I wanted to explore that line of thinking and how it can confuse a sub, especially a new one.

I also wanted to add in more action, because I grew up with violent vamps, not sexy ones. But to me, violence and power can be very sexy indeed, and that was another thing I made sure to point out in the narrative. To tell the truth, this was also an excuse to write about bloodplay in a very natural setting.

My mind is a melting pot, and everything just stirred together like a big stew and turned into The Hunger Within. Sex, blood, and handcuffs. Love, mystery, and mind games. I hope readers enjoy the book half as much as I enjoyed writing it. Vampires wielding whips and chains as well as fangs? Yes please…

The body of my best friend for the past twelve years was lying on the entryway floor, nearly bloodless. Her glassy eyes stared at the ceiling in disbelief and eternal fear. I hoped that the undertaker fixed that, or else she’d give the visitors at her funeral quite a shock. Not that the dual vampire bites and broken neck wouldn’t be startling enough.

What was I doing as my friend’s body lay cooling? I was pushed up against the wall in the very same hallway, tasting her blood on my lips and having my clothes torn off of me by my impatient and unbearably sexy Sire and Mistress, Victoria Draconis.

Her now blood-warmed hands tugged down my tank top and tore off my bra in a bloodlust filled haze, leaving bloody handprints on my pale flesh. The eyes that were usually black were now burning with Hellfire, and I am sure mine were as well. She leaned in and licked the blood from the side of my face, her body holding me flush against the wall.

The feelings inside of me were heady and intoxicating, a dark mix of lust, satisfaction, anticipation, and warmth I had never known before. Victoria had told me that there was no better sex than that which took place right after a first feeding, and she seemed to be correct. She hadn’t even touched more than a breast on me and already I was more turned on than I had ever been.

I wanted to make the job go quicker and help remove the rest of my clothing, but I refrained. Victoria hadn’t told me that I could and I didn’t want to risk angering her. And no way in Hell would I touch hers without express permission.

“So pliant,” she said, her deep, accented voice giving me chills. “You are a fast learner, my pet.” Her lips captured mine again as she slid my leggings and panties down. I stepped out of them and my sneakers in two quick movements.

Victoria’s hands went to the back of her corset and began to unlace it. Despite it being the twenty-first century, she dressed like a Victorian lady….if ladies of bygone days wore four-inch black leather heels and liked to whip other women for fun, that is. The garment fell away from her body, exposing her large, soft breasts as she then stepped out of her skirt, leaving her heels and sheer red panties on.

Fingers tugged at my nipples, hard, but I was now used to worse.

“As I said, I knew I’d increase your pain threshold,” she said, a smug smile on her face. One hand slithered from my breast up my chest and neck, pressing ever so slightly on my throat now. “On the ground, on your hands and knees. Now.”

I obeyed, too full of arousal to care that I was about to kneel in freshly spilled blood. There was a rustling from behind me and then there was a sharp pain on my arse. She’d removed the belt from my jeans and had proceeded to use it as a whip, something she had done once before when the proper tools weren’t in easy reach.

Victoria loved giving pain, just as much as I loved taking it as I arched my back to meet her next stroke. I hadn’t been her sub for very long. In fact, I had just discovered the lifestyle when we met a month ago, but I was so glad that I’d found her…found this.

The next slap of the belt was right between my legs and I let out a cry, somewhere between pain and arousal as the leather connected with my now throbbing clit. I slid forward in the slippery blood, just a bit, and heard my Mistress’ dark laughter behind me.

A few more strokes with the belt adorned my arse, back, and between my shoulder blades, sending me forward even more. The friction–or lack thereof–on the floor had me sprawling, my body now covered in blood as I fought for purchase.

Victoria laid off with the belt, and I felt her sharp heel digging into my back, pressing me downwards despite my effort to remain on all fours.

“Be a good pet and lick it up,” she commanded. “Not all of it, just what’s in front of you.”

The fuck? This was new, at least to me.

I yelped as a fresh wave of pain hit me: Victoria had noticed my hesitation and whipped me straight down my spine.

“Did I stutter, slut?”

Ashton has been in love with his best friend for years, watching him grow from a pretty high school boy to the gorgeous erotic dancer at the club where they both work. The problem is that Lance enjoys the attention of a variety of men while Ashton wants him for his very own.

After a day spent denying his attraction for Lance, standing by while their friend Trey openly flirts with him, Ashton decides it’s time to make his move or risk losing his man forever. Once Lance knows how he feels, he’ll realize they should be together. Or is it already too late?

Pages or Words: 10,308 words

Categories: Contemporary, Erotic, Gay Fiction, M/M Romance, Romance

Excerpt:

“Fuck!” Ashton shouted in a mixture of anger and ecstasy as Lance swallowed again, then let Ashton’s softening cock slip from between his perfect lips. Ashton leaned on his elbows, his chest heaving while he caught his breath. With a last kiss on his thigh, Lance climbed off the bed, sleek-limbed and graceful, and walked to the dresser with a sassy sway of his hips.

Ashton stared after him and groaned, not sure if he wanted to pull his friend’s ass back into his arms or punch him in the face. It would be incredible to wake up with Lance every morning and make love to him. But he sternly reminded himself that they were only friends and Lance needed to stop climbing into his bed at night uninvited.

“You do remember you have a bed of your own?” he asked, more sharply than he’d intended.

Lance gave him a smirk over his shoulder, making a show of licking the last of Ashton’s spunk off his swollen lips. “You told me to wake you at seven.”

“I didn’t mean… Oh hell.” Ashton fell back on the pillows and threw an arm over his eyes. He swore in exasperation when the mattress dipped and Lance’s familiar scent surrounded him. “Damn it—”

Soft fingers touched his mouth. “Don’t be mad, baby. I didn’t mean anything.”

Ashton peered at him through the dark curls that had flopped into his eyes. The guy looked positively forlorn, and Ashton sat up, giving him a one-armed hug. “I’m not mad. But you don’t need to keep doing that, either. You’re my friend!” He kissed Lance’s cheek, the velvet skin warm with a blush. “You make a terrific roommate, and I like the company.”

“And I like you.” Lance walked his fingers up Ashton’s leg.

Ashton laughed and shooed the hand away, but couldn’t help staring at the enticing evidence of his friend’s arousal between his legs.

“Can I take care of that for you?”

“Not at all.” Lance stood up, waving off Ashton’s offer. “I’ll deal with it in the shower. You have to save your attentions for Mister Man.”

“Who are you talking about…? Wait!” Ashton rolled off the bed and trotted after Lance as he crossed the apartment.

Lance giggled, slipping behind the bathroom door but holding it cracked open an inch. He smiled at Ashton with his pouty, kissable lips. “You know, the boss. Mister Kent.”

“I’m not saving myself for—”

Ashton blinked at the closed door. Why in the world would Lance think he was interested in his boss? Sure, the man was handsome as sin, but he was also an egomaniac and tyrant. Why only yesterday, he’d…

Hot blood scorched Ashton’s neck and face, his arm tingling where Morgan Kent had gripped it, towering over him. The man had bent to his ear, swamping Ashton’s senses with subtle cologne and a hint of sweat as he’d whispered, “If you can’t type a simple letter without mistakes, I’ll find a secretary who can.” He’d tightened his hand almost painfully on Ashton’s arm. “Or maybe I should just bend you over this desk and smack your ass for each mistake?”

Ashton’s dick jumped at the memory. He told it sternly to behave. “We’re not falling for that bastard. We’ll stick with the sweet boys at the club and call it good.”

INTERVIEW WITH DIANNE HARTSOCK

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Dianne Hartsock, author of STUCK ON REWIND. Hi Dianne, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about your current book.

Thank you Velvet Panic for hosting me today! Stuck on Rewind is a book about friends who become lovers, but only after a lot of heartache and misunderstanding.

  • Can you describe in detail what your writing environment is like?

Of course. Both my kids are grown and moved out of the house, so we’ve converted one room into a guest bedroom, and I’ve taken over the other for my very own writing space. It has a large picture window overlooking the front yard and flower garden, and faces west so I get to watch the sunset, which here in Oregon, is pretty rare in the winter. I have beautiful prints and artwork on the walls with bookcases lining one wall stuffed with books by favorite authors. I have a large desk on which to spread out my papers, and nothing gets moved unless I want it to! There’s a nice CD player, but I’m one of those odd authors who needs absolute quiet when I’m working on a scene. Music is a distraction and interruptions are grounds for divorce.

  • Is there one of your characters that you relate to (from any of your works)? Why?

I can’t say there’s any one character I relate to more than others. I think I put a little of myself into each one. When someone is sad, I pull up those memories to describe the feeling. Love, hate, anguish joy, everything comes from inside me or how I’ve observed these feelings in others. Same with the situations they find themselves in. I may not have had to deal with the exact same things, but ones similar enough to make them sound authentic.

I guess if I had to choose, it would be Alex Elson from my psychological thriller, ALEX, put out several years ago. Alex is shy, introverted, a young man simply trying to make a decent life for himself in a world that doesn’t always understand him. If often feel this way. I can also relate to Ashton from this story. He wants to be with the man he loves, but his insecurities get in the way.

  • If you couldn’t be an author, what would you do instead?

I work as a floral designer for my day job, which I thoroughly enjoy. There’s something very satisfying in creating a beautiful bouquet of flowers for someone to take home or give to a loved one. But I’ve always wanted to take some oil painting classes and to sketch in charcoals. If I couldn’t write, I think I’d explore this creative outlet, see if I have a hidden talent for it. I do like the tactile pleasure of sketching and the vibrant color of oil paints. I think I could be very happy working in these mediums.

  • Is there anything that you learned during the writing process that you wish you had known before hand?

I wish with all my heart that I could learn to take better notes! I write along, jotting notes down as I go. Character traits, looks, eye color, etc., all go down. As well as locations and times of day and day of the week. The problem, is that when I need to go back to my notes for reference, they’re such a jumble of disjointed sentences I have a hard time finding what I need. I try to do better with each story, but apparently old habits are hard to break.

  • Is there anything that you wish you could change about your book now that it is out?

I really can’t think of anything. I told the story I wanted to and had amazing editors to help me polish it into a story I can be proud of.

Meet the author:

Dianne grew up in one of the older homes in the middle of Los Angeles, a place of hardwood floors and secret closets and back staircases. A house where ghosts lurk in the basement and the faces in the paintings watch you walk up the front stairs. Rooms where you keep the closet doors closed tight at night. It’s where her love of the mysterious and wonderful came from.

Dianne now lives in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon with her incredibly patient husband, who puts up with the endless hours she spends hunched over the keyboard letting her characters play. She says Oregon’s raindrops are the perfect setting in which to write. There’s something about being cooped up in the house with a fire crackling on the hearth and a cup of hot coffee warming her hands, which kindles her imagination.

Currently, Dianne works as a floral designer in a locally-owned gift shop. Which is the perfect job for her. When not writing, she can express herself through the rich colors and textures of flowers and foliage.

Excerpt:

Vince grabbed the remote and clicked on the news. He paid little attention as he rubbed his aching hip. When Lola Romero began her news report he glanced up to see an official photo of himself in uniform.

“Jesus, talk about an old fucking picture.”

Despite being only twenty-three in the photo, he hadn’t appeared young and fresh faced. His eyes had held a kind of darkness even then, and his best efforts were unable to hide the pain.

“An L.A.P.D. Information officer confirmed the return to duty of Detective Vincent Sweetwater just one week after a horrifying display of violence toward a man who was reportedly beating his five-year-old son in the parking lot of a Home Depot in Inglewood. Detective Sweetwater was nearly killed last year in a motorcycle accident on the Pacific Coast Highway and is still under scrutiny following alleged misconduct while under deep cover with the narcotics division.”

“Bite me, Lola.” Vince shut off the TV, flopping back on the bed, staring into the darkness.

“Fuck my life. It was more than a year ago. Bitch.”

I hate people.

INTERVIEW WITH MICHELE MICHAEL RAKES

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Michele Micheal “Mikey” Rakes author of Trainwreck the series.

Hi Mikey, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

  • What are your ambitions for your writing career?

To be famous and make lots of money…lol. My goals are to maybe replace my day job someday. I don’t need to be famous or have lots of cash, but to be able to earn a living doing what I love is my longtime goal.

  • How many published books do you have? Can you tell us something about them?

I have two novels with Loose Id: Saving Kane, Fourth and Long, and a coming soon followup to those two called After Party. There is also one more in the works for that series, Maddox and Frank. Saving Kane is the story about a guy who survives a hate crime and the paramedic who saved his life. The story moves further into Fourth and Long, where Kane’s best friend is a pro-football player and his budding relationship with a wide out, the connection comes with the who the baddies are, and I don’t want to give too much away. They are dark themed and there are past abuses both Kane and Jackson McCoy of Fourth and Long dealt with as children. I don’t want to give any spoilers, because I’m bad at that…I’d tell the whole thing if you gave me the chance.

  • Your main character wants to cook something special for his love interest. What does he make?

HeheheJ Box macaroni and cheese! Vince can’t cook to save his life. Greg can cook, but he’s a doctor so it’d probably be healthy. Mica can’t cook, either. They’re sort of hopeless in that regard and actually plays a role in their relationship with Greg.

  • What are you working on at the moment? What’s it about?

Currently, I’m finishing up the edits and final books for the Trainwreck series. Book Two had to be pushed back to a March release. It’ll be coming atcha ya’ll soon. I intend to have all five out by the end of June. I have the third book to the Saving Kane/Fourth and Long series, called After Party almost done. The book is about eighty percent complete. There will be another book after that to complete that series called Maddox and Frank, tentatively. Once all of the Trainwreck series is out, I have a sequel, Surviving Adam, that only needs seven more scenes and then editing. When all is said and done, with nothing else on my plate, I have a m/m sci-fi in the works, plus two other story ideas.

  • Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day?

If I wasn’t working, I’d aim for 8 hours of production a day. I used to be able to write on Fridays because I had no work in the real world. I’d get about 20,000+ written, but now my time is seriously limited. My time is dwindling because of my new day job, so for now, my focus is getting all of Trainwreck released. Then finishing up After Party. Maddox and Frank comes next. Atfter that, it’ll be Surviving Adam.

Book Blast and Giveaway: Dragon Dreams and Fairy Wings by Bailey Bradford

DDFW - 400x600

Author Name: Bailey Bradford

Book Name: Dragon Dreams & Fairy Wings

Series: Fire & Flutter

Book: One

Release Date: February 18 at Rainbow Ninja Press, February 25 elsewhere

Blurb:

What happens when a fairy loses his wings– and his memory?

Griff was born a Love fairy, but he never quite fit in. He didn’t want to be part of a harem, at least…he didn’t think he wanted that. What with his wings gone and his memory damaged, he can’t be certain of what he felt in the past. All he does know is, he wants his wings back. Without them, he’s grounded.

Blaze is a dragon shifter who tends to stick his foot in his mouth…and some other parts in other places…when he really shouldn’t. His brother is the king, and his sister-in-law Bonny is scary. Blaze’s last screw-up got him grounded, unable to shift into his dragon form. His punishment seems harsh to him, but there’s no escaping it.

Then the Love fairies come to the castle to work on forming an alliance. Blaze has about had it with guarding the horny beings, and he’s disappointed that they don’t stay small and cute. He almost commits a major faux-pas when he swats at something buzzing him, and it turns out to be a fairy on a dragonfly.

And from that snarky meeting, something wonderful, and dangerous, will come.

Pages or Words: 58,600 words

Categories: Erotica, Fantasy, Fiction, Gay Fiction, Humor, M/M Romance, Romance, Shifters (Dragon)

Excerpt:

Blaze was disappointed as all Hades. The fairies weren’t little all the time. They were tiny when they came in, but quickly morphed to regular sized beings, if not taller than most of the dragons when the dragons were in the two-legged form.

And holy dragon balls, Blaze did not know why anyone would want a harem! Okay, well, there was the sex, and lots of it, probably, but so far there’d been more bickering and outright fighting than anything sexy! He’d had to break up six altercations, and the fairies had only been in their accommodations for an hour!

This was going to be a long, suck-ass assignment.

The fairies sure were beautiful, though. Granted, he hadn’t seen each and every one of them. He’d seen the king, and some of the harem members. Every one of them was gorgeous, delicate-featured, lithe, and limber—that last one might not be true, but he was going to go with it, because… hot! Bendy fairies… Blaze adjusted his cock before it could pop up and embarrass him. He wondered if maybe, because they were Love fairies, they had special powers of attraction and such. He’d been fighting down boners ever since he’d been brought out to meet the Love fairy king, Artaxis.

Not that Artaxis even gave him a cursory glimpse. Blaze didn’t blame him. Artaxis was beautiful, like all the fairies Blaze had seen so far, and Blaze was… Well, there was nothing delicate about a dragon’s features, that was for sure. And lithe might apply to some of the other dragons in differing warrens, but not in any Blaze knew of.

With Blaze’s shocking orange hair and bronze skin… and freckles, another thing that was a burden to bear. How many times when he’d been a child had he been teased about having shit splatters on his face? Was it any wonder at all that he hated his human form? At least his scales made the freckles unnoticeable for the most part when he was a dragon. And Blaze was forever scarred from being told his freckles were caused by watching other creatures using the dragon dumping grounds. That was also the cause for styes in the eyes, according to old dragons’ tales.

Blaze had never in his life had a sty, and he’d maybe, sorta accidentally, seen an orc once in the dumping grounds. If anything was going to give someone a sty, that should have done it.

Blaze smacked himself on the forehead. Why did his mind spin around to such stupid thoughts?

Well, it’d curbed his arousal. He hoped the fairies weren’t going to hang around long. He didn’t need the struggle with his dick, and he sure didn’t need the blow to his ego—so far, none of the fairies had acknowledged him or even looked at him unless he was breaking up a fight involving them. Even then, he didn’t think he registered as more than a big, lumbering weirdo.

He watched a dozen fairies walk toward the baths. They were so pale and pretty, and that long hair was amazing. Then he realized something wonderful. They were naked!

It was wonderful because there were so many gorgeous naked fairies. Yet it was horrible, too, because he was never going to have blood anywhere else but in his cock again unless he got some sort of control over his libido. When the fairies’ hair swung just right, he saw glimpses of nicely rounded buttocks.

Blaze groaned and closed his eyes. He couldn’t look. He’d end up taking his shaft out right there and jacking himself to completion, and he didn’t have to think about it to know that wouldn’t go over well with Fyre or Bonny.

He had to leave the hall next to the harem rooms, where he’d been standing, waiting for the next fight to break out. Blaze couldn’t wait for more naked fairies to come out. He’d lose it and yeah, end up being grounded for a century.

It was easy to slip away, outside, into the heat of the sunlight. Blaze bit his lip until it hurt bad enough to kill his arousal. He was really going to have to get it together—if he could just figure out what it was.

A strange sound reached his ears. It was a fluttering, buzzing sound. He turned his head and frowned when he saw a gold-gilded dragonfly buzzing toward the entrance of the secondary palace where the fairies were staying.

Contrary to popular belief, dragons didn’t look at dragonflies as cute little relatives. They looked at them as bugs.

Blaze raised a hand to swat it away when it was within reach.

Meet the author:

These things always give me fits. Basically, I am an author of erotic romance. Besides being an author, I am a mother, a grandmother, a wife, and a combination of many other things that make my life joyous day in and day out. Unless someone swipes my coffee. Then it gets pretty ugly quickly.

“You’ll kneel for me without me having to tell you to. And when you do, you’ll feel so much better. Trust me.”
– Detective Sam Roberts

Officer Ryan Bennett: Ambitious and smart, Ryan Bennett is a young officer on Houston’s police force. He’s pursuing his dream of being promoted to the city’s elite SWAT team with a single mindedness that won’t accept any outcome but success. But that isn’t his only dream. Ryan wants more than a coveted position on SWAT. He wants to be owned by a strong Dominant. To give himself up to a Dom who will make him shudder with pleasure beneath a firm yet loving hand. Unfortunately, Ryan has had nothing but failure in that part of his life. Now, he’s hidden that dream away from everyone, including himself. And he refuses to let anyone close enough to see what he truly desires, and who he truly is.

Detective Sam Roberts: Cool and calm, Detective Sam Roberts is good at reading people, during the day as a detective and at night as a Dom. He easily sees past the hard layer of arrogance surrounding Officer Ryan Bennett to the hurt submissive hiding beneath. He wants to help Ryan, even though the stubborn young man resists him. But Sam isn’t one to back down from a challenge. He’s determined to help Ryan embrace the soft, giving nature of his submissive side. Using both a gentle hand and the sting of the whip, he’ll work to coax Ryan’s submission free. But what will Sam do if he’s successful? Let Ryan go as promised? Or give the young officer the very thing he’s wanted for so long?

Excerpt:

Ryan stopped picking at the wax and met Sam’s eyes in the mirror. He didn’t say anything. He just stood there, looking at Sam’s reflection.

“Do you need-.” Sam stopped. Ryan was on the brink of … something. Sam knew what he said would either finally get him to open up or cause that hard shell to close even tighter around him. Remembering Ryan’s seeming aversion to needing someone, he asked instead, “Would you like some help?”

Ryan moved his head, the movement so slight it could barely be called a nod. If they hadn’t been staring at each other in the mirror, he would have missed it. Sam touched his fingertips to Ryan’s shoulder, waiting to see if he would be rejected. Ryan didn’t react, so Sam moved in closer. When he laid the warmth of his palm across his back, Ryan closed his eyes and shuddered. He gripped the countertop with both hands, his head hanging low.

“I don’t know how to let go,” he said in a voice hoarse with restrained despair.

Sam stepped forward again, moving close enough behind Ryan that he could wrap an arm around him. Ryan stood there for a second before he turned and leaned into his embrace. Sam looked at their reflection in the mirror. Ryan’s blond head was nestled against him, streaks of wax down his back. For the first time he looked truly vulnerable, just as Sam had wanted to see him all along. He stroked Ryan’s hair, pressing a kiss to the soft strands.

“I’ll show you, Ryan. All you have to do is trust me. I’ll take care of the rest.”

INTERVIEW WITH CHRISTA TOMLINSON

Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Christa Tomlinson, author of The Detective’s Pleasure. Hi Christa, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

Hello! I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri and I currently live in Houston, Texas. I have two dogs and I’m a retired roller derby player. My background for the romance industry is I’ve been reading romance novels since I was eleven! My big sister let me read hers as long as I promised to skip the “grown up” parts. I always said I would skip them but read them anyway. I was a rebel. My current book is The Detective’s Pleasure. It’s an erotic BDSM romance, featuring men from my fictional version of the Houston Police Department SWAT team. This story is about Officer Ryan Bennett a stubborn and snooty submissive, and Detective Sam Roberts the laid-back Dom who isn’t afraid to take Ryan on.

  • Do you have pictures that you use for your characters? Can you share them with us?

Yes I do! I have a few guys that I used as inspiration for Officer Ryan Bennett and Detective Sam Roberts.  Ryan was Randy Harrison and Chrod Overstreet, while Sam was Matthew McConaughey.

  • What kind of book would you like to write that people would see as a huge departure for you?

A historical fantasy type book. All I’ve written so far is contemporary, but I grew up loving history. So I’d love to write something like that. I actually have some ideas for a series, but I have other projects I have to complete first.

  • Have you ever killed a character? Was it traumatic for you? If you haven’t killed one, would you ever consider it?

No, but I want to! I know that sounds awful. But I’d like to get into how the characters would react to a death and see if that would change the dynamics of those who survive.

  • Favorite location you’ve ever written about?

I’m still so new that I haven’t had the chance to explore many locations yet. But I’d like to try writing about somewhere near or on the water. Maybe somewhere like Miami.

  • What’s your favorite season and favorite activity for that season?

I don’t necessarily have a favorite season. I just prefer it to be warm with a slight breeze so I can sit outside with an iced coffee and a good book. I live in Houston, Texas, so each season has days like that. Even winter. I love it.
